The honest part, up front
Reek Performance is an independent operator. The person changing your tires is not a licensed automotive service technician and the business carries no commercial insurance. That’s why these prices sit below the insured shops — and it’s your call, with eyes open. When certified help and insurance are in place, the service list grows and prices get reset. Until then, this page only sells what’s listed above.
How booking works
Every booking ends one of three ways: a time you said yes to, a message for the owner, or a handoff to the owner. Nothing in between is guessed.

FAQ
Is it okay to put winter tires on early?
Yes — early is fine, and it's the smart way to do it. The trigger isn't the first snowfall, it's temperature: winter tires start outperforming all-seasons at about 7°C and below, because the rubber stays soft in the cold. Ottawa usually crosses that line between late October and mid-November — so a swap two or three weeks before the first snow costs you almost nothing and beats the first-snow rush, when every shop in the city is booked solid.
The one real tradeoff: winter rubber is softer, so driving on it for weeks in 15–20°C warmth wears it a little faster and softens dry-road braking slightly. That's an argument against putting them on in September heat — not against booking now for a late-October slot. And after any wheel change, re-check lug torque after the first 50–100 km.
What's the difference between on-rim and off-rim?
On-rim: your seasonal tires already live on their own set of wheels — we swap the whole wheel assembly. Faster and cheaper. Off-rim: one set of wheels shared by both sets of tires — the old tires come off the rims and the seasonal tires get mounted onto them. It takes longer (about 90 minutes), and at Reek it is mount only — wheels are not balanced.
Why don't you balance wheels?
Honest answer: balancing isn't part of this setup, and we'd rather say so up front than quietly skip it. An unbalanced wheel can vibrate at highway speed. If you book an off-rim mount, plan a balance at a tire shop afterward — on-rim swaps don't change the balance of a wheel that's already balanced.
Are you a licensed mechanic or an insured shop?
No — and the site says so everywhere, not in fine print. Reek is an independent, unregistered operator; the work is not commercially insured and carries no shop warranty. That's exactly why the prices are what they are. The disclosure at the top of this page has the full picture.
What do I actually get from a diagnostic scan?
A scan-tool read of every module that answers, the plain-English meaning of any codes, a check of live data and battery/charging basics, and a written report telling you whether a licensed shop visit is urgent, routine, or not needed. It's information for a decision — we don't sell the repair, and we never diagnose from symptoms over the phone.
How do booking and payment work?
Request a time here or by phone. You get a read-back of the whole booking and a confirmation with a booking reference before it's final. Payment is due when the job's done — and never give card numbers over the phone; we don't take them.
